An example would be, you could make a t-shirt with an image of a caricature cartoon of Lilana Vess. It must be different enough in some way that it is not just a copy of the previous work. When you "transform" a work it becomes a derivative work, you must make it "original" in some way. You can't just copy that picture and put it on something and sell it. These laws are mainly about copying images/content, so like, you can't sell a t-shirt with the art of a Lillana Vess card on it. Trademarks & copyright are entirely different categories of intellectual property law, and you have a lot more leeway in making "derivative work" (ie fan art) of copyright material but you'll never get away with infringing on trademarks (so any inclusion of things like logo and icons is extra BAD) The names, text of cards, published works, likenesses of characters, content of artwork etc would be under copyright.
